〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Jonathan Walsh, he has also referred to himself as Snakeman when Ozzie was a child and would likely do so again if he were in a situation to need a supehero moniker
CHARACTER AGE: Looks to be in his 30s, but in reality is much older
CANON ORIGIN: People of Earth
CHRONOLOGY: After season 2 finale
CLASS: Reformed villain
HOUSING: Random assignment

BACKGROUND: Jonathan Walsh is a reptilian, a member of a race of aliens who are infiltrating the Earth by disguising themselves as humans and putting themselves in various roles in an effort to gain complete control of the human race. However, unlike some of the others of his race, Jonathan has always seemed to have a soft spot for humans, and was always very reluctant to actually harm them, even though he was knowingly working for an invasion that had the goal of enslaving the human race to put them to work in the mines.

When he first came to Earth, he was assigned monitor duty on some minor experiments on humans. It was while he was working in this position that he had to go to Earth for a meeting that took place in the back room of a convenience store that served as a front for their operations. Apparently, one of his coworkers left the door unlocked and Ozzie Graham, a human child, wandered into the back area and saw them.

Initially, one of the reptilians figured they'd have to kill Ozzie, but Jonathan talked him down, convincing him that they could just add Ozzie to the group of humans they were currently observing and wipe his memories when they were done.

After abducting the boy, however, Jonathan noticed the child was terrified, so he ended up comforting him and promising that he wouldn't harm him. The two ended up befriending each other while Ozzie was on the ship. Even though Ozzie's memories were supposed to be wiped after this experiment was done, it seems that Jonathan still stands by the promise to never harm him, and even has tried to look out for Ozzie as he grew up.

At some point between Ozzie's original abduction and encountering Jonathan Walsh again, Jonathan was transferred to a position as an Earth worker, a position where he'd primarily stay on Earth as CEO of Glint Enterprises, a major online media company. It was his job to use his media influence to cover up the alien presence on Earth. By this point, Ozzie was an adult, and Jonathan hired him as one of his reporters in order to keep an eye on him. This worked well enough, until Ozzie was abducted as a follow up to the earlier study. When they wiped his memory afterward, it seemed that Ozzie was unusually resistant to the mind wipe technology, resulting in strange hallucinations as Ozzie's brain tried to sort through what he was remembering versus the memories the current team of aliens in charge of such experimentation had implanted.

Jonathan then soon exacerbated the issue, deciding he wanted to use Ozzie to discredit an alien abductee support group that some of their past abductees had formed in a place called Beacon. He sent him down there to write an article, and as he hoped, Ozzie was extremely dismissive of their stories in the rough draft of the article he turned in. Of course, Ozzie had promised and fully intended to publish this article with no names of any people or places, but Jonathan had other plans. Wanting to get Ozzie out of the office so he couldn't catch what Jonathan was doing, Jonathan told Ozzie to talk to the group again to get more of their perspective. Then, once Ozzie was safely out of the office, Jonathan published the article complete with names of people and places.

He'd been hoping this would discredit and humiliate the group, causing it to fall apart, and alienate Ozzie from the group so he'd have to leave. What he didn't count on was this incident leading Ozzie to slowly piece together what really happened to him. Or the group forgiving him, as they realized he was a fellow abductee. In the end, the article only served to alienate Ozzie from Jonathan, as he felt betrayed by the fact that the article had been published with people's personal information.

Ozzie ended up quitting his job at Glint, and taking up a new job at a local newspaper. That was when things got messy for Jonathan. Kurt, a reptilian who was among those in charge of programming Ozzie's new memories, as well as Jeff, his grey boyfriend and coworker, both blamed Jonathan for Ozzie figuring out that he'd been abducted. Despite Jonathan telling Kurt to leave Earth work to the Earth workers, Kurt decided to come down and fix Jonathan's mess, and was promptly hit by a car driven by Gina, the head of the alien abductee support group.

Fortunately for Jonathan's efforts to hide the presence of aliens on Earth, Gina had been texting while driving, and decided not to stop to see what she'd hit, so the dead reptilian was able to be covered up and returned to the ship before any humans discovered what happened. Jeff, however, blamed Jonathan, and reported his lackadaisical work ethic to their superiors.

From there, the heat was on to deal with the problem of Ozzie, and his superiors insisted that either he had to deal with Ozzie, or they would.

Jonathan tried to convince Ozzie to leave Beacon, mostly by trying to annoy him into leaving. He moved to Beacon, bought the local newspaper, and generally hovered around Ozzie hoping that Ozzie's anger at him would be enough to get him to leave. Unfortunately, it didn't, and Ozzie began looking into the suspicious activities of Glint Enterprises, realizing that various politicians had suspicious ties to the company. In order to further dissuade him, Jonathan tried threatening to expose Ozzie's embarrassing connection to an alien support group, but even this did not work.

Since Ozzie was getting dangerously close to the truth, and Jonathan had completely failed to do anything to solve the issue, Jonathan was told he had to kill Ozzie. Jonathan agreed, but only to buy himself time. He then gave Ozzie a flash drive with a bunch of data surrounding Glint Enterprise's suspicious activities (excluding the alien bits), as well as setting up an online system that would release even more information onto the internet should Jonathan be unable to enter a key on a regular, set schedule. Jonathan's superiors only realized what Jonathan had done when Ozzie published the article, and by then it was too late to stop him.

They wanted to kill both Jonathan and Ozzie, but as Jonathan pointed out, at this point killing Ozzie would only raise even more suspicions and confirm what he was saying. He also let them know about the system he set up, so they would be aware that killing him would jeopardize the mission. His superior reluctantly allowed him to live, but he'd be on his own at that point, with no more support from the reptilians.

Jeff, however, was still seeking revenge, and had hijacked Nancy, an android designed to look human, in order to get information on Gina and kill her. He also still blamed Jonathan as well, however, and while he wasn't willing to kill Jonathan and jeopardize the mission, he was perfectly fine with threatening him with the android, forcing him to flee without any money, as well as tearing the throat of Jonathan's skin suit. Fortunately, Jonathan was able to cover that with an expertly placed scarf and continue to masquerade as human.

Later, Jonathan discovered that Jeff had the Nancy android hiding in Gina's house, planning to use her to kill Gina as well as Ozzie (due to the fact that Ozzie was with her at the time). Fortunately, due to technical issues, he was unable to get Nancy to act in time, and Gina and Ozzie left the house without ever noticing Nancy there. Jonathan went in to stop Jeff from killing them, and he ended up having to fight Nancy. Hitting her with a crowbar a few times, Jonathan accidentally triggered a self destruct mechanism which caused an explosion, throwing Jonathan, with a now more severely damaged skin suit, to the ground, unconscious. He recovered, grabbing the bits of Nancy android and fleeing, but not before another member of the alien abductee support group spotted him.

After that, Jonathan was hiding out in the home of Officer Glimmer, one of the humans he'd been working with to help cover the presence of the reptilians, working on repairing Nancy's android head.

Update:
While in hiding, Jonathan managed to repair both Nancy and his damaged skin suit. This ended up being particularly fortuitous, because Officer Glimmer, the human he was staying with after he betrayed the reptilian invasion, sold Jonathan's whereabouts to the reptilians in exchange for having his gambling debts erased.

Jonathan fled, hiding out in an old cabin, and while he was there he contacted Ozzie to arrange a meeting. Once they met up, he revealed his alien face to Ozzie, before putting his mask back on due to Ozzie freaking out. Unfortunately, an FBI agent managed to find them, and she was being tracked by a reptilian assassin sent to kill Jonathan. The assassin hand cuffs the FBI agent to a refrigerator, and takes Ozzie and Jonathan into the woods to kill them. Once there, he attempts to shoot Jonathan, but Ozzie takes the blast, dying in Jonathan's place.

Jonathan flees, but before his would-be killer can catch up to him, he's beamed up by the ship that Jeff works on. However, a lot's changed since he's last had any contact with Jeff, and the ship is now run by a floating cube named Eric. Also, Jeff no longer wants to kill Jonathan because Kurt came back to life when Jeff kissed his dead body, which had been being stored in some sort of clear glass box. It also becomes clear that while Jeff had strong romantic feelings toward his 'poor, sweet Kurt', Kurt had never actually been aware of those feelings.

Once on the ship, Eric the cube interrogates Jonathan, having heard he was a traitor. However, Jonathan claims he was not a traitor, and it was all a ruse to get close to and kill a human. To confirm, Eric asks him if he really killed a human. Jonathan then replies that Ozzie is dead because of him, and when Eric scans him to see if he's telling the truth, it comes up as true, because Jonathan really did feel like it was his fault that Ozzie died.

At that point, Eric decides to trust Jonathan, and he orders him to use his skills to get rid of Jeff as well as the members of Star Crossed (the alien abductee support group). Jonathan claims he'll do this. Then he has a meeting with Jeff, Kurt and Don, letting them know what Eric wants him to do, and they begin to plan a coup.

In the mean time, Jonathan asks Jeff about how Kurt came back to life, and he abducts Ozzie's body so he can try to bring him back as well. He also tracks down the reptilian who killed Ozzie and, when he begins bragging about how he was glad he killed Ozzie, Jonathan shoots him, killing him.

A short while later, the time comes for Jonathan and the others to take the ship back from Eric. What they don't know is that Eric has programmed Gerry, one of the alien abductees, to create a game with a device inside that will kill whoever's in the room with it when Gerry responds to a trigger and hits a button on it. Gerry has invited all the other members of the Star Crossed to a game night as Eric instructed, hoping to eliminate the entire group. They successfully capture Eric, putting him in a slightly larger, clear cube, and interrogate him. Eric tells them his plan, so Jonathan beams down to the planet to stop Gerry from killing the other members of Star Crossed. Unfortunately, since he's a known reptilian due to Richard having seen his natural face, one of the members pulls a gun on him after he knocks Gerry away from the device. Fortunately, the FBI agent from before, who has befriended some members of the group, talks her out of shooting Walsh. However, she then arrests him, still believing he's a white collar criminal, and she attempts to bring him in.

While in the car with her, Jonathan tells her everything, that the head of the FBI is a reptilian who will kill him and her once she brings him in. She doesn't believe him, so he reverts his eyes to their natural appearance, proving he's an alien. He also convinces her that the members of Star Crossed were in danger, so she brings him back to the house where they were.

While that was happening, however, Eric had escaped his box, and took control of Don's body, using him to abduct the members of Star Crossed. When Jonathan and the FBI agent get back to the house, everyone's missing.

PERSONALITY: Jonathan is energetic, upbeat, and willing to be your friend! At least, that's the front he puts up, along with his tendency to be overly concerned with fitness and diet. It's not far from the truth; Jonathan seems to lack the ruthlessness some others of his species have, but it is, in large part, a carefully crafted image in order to more easily get others to do what he wants, and make him seem more secure. While this seems to work more or less on humans, he doesn't always seem to have the same luck when trying to charm others of his kind.

In truth, he's somewhat afraid of his superiors, and that is likely the primary reason he obeyed them as long as he did despite rather enjoying Earth, despite it's flaws. He admires the integrity of humans like Ozzie, and his refusal to be bought out or dissuaded by threats, even if it causes him problems at times. He is also incredibly protective of humans he feels responsible for, such as Ozzie, and likely would feel the same way about any children he were to encounter regardless of species. While normally he generally tries to avoid trouble, he's willing to rush in to defend those he feels protective over, even putting himself in danger for someone who has no idea that he's looking out for them.

Some people might be bothered by the fact that the person they're doing so much to try and help hates them, but this doesn't seem to bother Jonathan. In a way, he might even feel he deserves it, considering the fact that he, until recently, was helping his race take over the Earth, though he doesn't think on this too much.

The fact that he was willing to throw away his position with the reptilians and with it, his position with Glint Enterprises and all his money is all the more meaningful because he really likes money and material things. Even as he was trying to drive Ozzie out of Beacon, he spent time thinking of how to make money by selling the newspaper's office as real estate once his job there was done. He enjoyed expensive gadgets, like a desk he could drive, and spent so impulsively and freely that he barely had a concept of the value of money.

At the same time, Jonathan Walsh can sometimes have difficulty really grasping how his actions could harm someone when the harm is not direct and immediate. Sometimes when focusing on his own survival or status, he ignores the needs of others. For example, he wasn't even worried about how selling off the newspaper office right after buying the company could hurt the employees, and he didn't even think about what his people were going to do to the humans and gladly continued to aid their goals until Ozzie's life was in danger.

Still, in the series he does learn and grow as a person, and being forced out of a life of luxury has forced him to empathize more with humans like Officer Glimmer, who he previously only regarded as a useful tool. As he continues to meet and connect with more humans, he'll likely move even farther from the person he was when he was gladly serving his reptilian overlords.

POWER: Reptilian Physiology (canon): The full extent of reptilian powers has not been established. While some things are claimed by some human characters in the show, they do not actually know for certain. What has been established is that reptilians have acid blood that is strong enough to eat through asphalt. It can also be assumed that the skin, scales and organs of a reptilian are made of a substance that cannot be broken down by acidic substances, similar to the way that plastic and wax typically cannot. Furthermore, his physiology is likely quite different from a human's, and any medical examination would likely reveal this rather quickly.

Updated ability: Jonathan also has super strength, giving him enough strength to throw an adult man a few yards into the air.

Skin suit generation (non-canon) – He is able to create a new skin suit through force of will, or repair his existing one. His skin suit will always look the same as the one he always wears in canon. It takes a few hours to generate a new one from nothing, during which time he'll be in an almost catatonic state, though it takes much less time if his skin suit his merely damaged. However, he must be wearing it to repair it in this fashion. Whenever his skin suit is in full functioning order, he will also have the technology that allows him to switch his eyes from their natural state to human in an instant. He can snap himself out of this state, but when he does so the suit will cease to repair itself until he puts himself back into said state.

〈 CHARACTER SAMPLES 〉
COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE: I know, I know. I've read all the other posts, and I know everyone's asking to go home, and that another person asking the same thing would just seem redundant to you all, but it is really, incredibly important that I...

[Dramatic pause! Wait for it...wait for it...a slow smile spreads across Jonathan's face.]

Stay right here! That's right, you guys have no idea how awesome this is for me, and I'm incredibly glad to be here to help you all with...being a registered hero? Yeah, being a hero is like...super important to me. Really.

So, any shocking twists about this place I should know about? Android spies? Dogs walking their owners? Reptilian spies disguised as humans? Hah! Joking with that last one, that would be ridiculous.

[After all, any self respecting alien invasion would be undetectable to any of the people who might answer this.]

But seriously, any tips on what this version of Earth is like? I'm hoping you guys are going to chime in with how much cheaper things are in this universe, because I've already asked about my salary, it's...well, not as much as I was hoping. So anyway, feel free to share! I'd love to learn more about this place.

LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:Jonathan heard the woman bemoaning her hundred dollars, but while he could empathize with someone in financial dire straits losing what little money they had, there was no way he was going to risk his life and run into that fire for money that had likely already been incinerated.

When he sees the alligator, on the other hand...

"Oh, crap."

Nope. He was still not going to do this. Fire was hot, he was a coward, and he adamantly did not want to die, but...was he really going to leave that poor creature to burn to death?

For reasons Jonathan didn't fully comprehend, he found himself running toward the fire. He wasn't going to be able to get in through the main entrance, since that was blocked off by flames, and unfortunately, being fireproof was not a power he had, so instead he found himself jumping into the building through one of the newly shattered windows.

His first attempt to grab the alligator was not met with much success, as the creature turned to try and snap at him. Fortunately, Jonathan was able to pull back his arm before it could snag his flesh.

"You really don't want to do that. Believe me, that would hurt you more than it would hurt me."

Whatever he did, he'd have to act fast. He could feel the heat coming off of the flames, and he knew he wouldn't be able to keep this up for long. Pulling off his jacket, Jonathan waved it around a bit, catching the alligator's attention, before tossing it to a spot in front of the alligator. While it was distracted, snapping at the jacket, Jonathan quickly reached down, wrapping his arms around the alligator...and discovered he could not actually lift it.

"Wow, you're really heavy, aren't you?"

Letting it go and standing up, Jonathan called out the window, "Hey, I can't actually lift this thing! Does anyone want to help me?"

FINAL NOTES: Jonathan will not be becoming human, since he can blend in just fine as his alien self as long as he wears his skin suit. It's just a basic suit that adheres to his skin and moves with his facial expressions making him look like a perfectly normal human, with some sort of technology to disguise his eyes as human eyes. This technology over his eyes appears to be able to be disrupted at will, or when Jonathan is experiencing some sort of physical distress, like choking on a drink. However, it only seems to take a moment for him to get it back online.
